We began our rotational moulding activities some 15 years ago as SIGRE; producing traditional flower pots and planters - polyethylene faithful copies of classic Tuscan and Mediterranean shapes in imitation of marble, stone and terracotta.
With the gaining of experience over the years and the idea that we should diversify our production, in 2002 is born SLIDE. It was almost by chance; a serendipitous meeting of a well-kent industrial technology and the constant search for good design.Thus plastic is no longer simply an imitator’s pallet, but becomes a challenging exploration of form and colour. Unthinkable
then were the products in rotational mouldings
we can make for furniture and lighting today.
The range of SLIDE products happily divides into several main lines:
- lights, furniture and furnishing accessories
- planters in new, modern design
- objects catching the eye and easily marketed (bears, Buddha heads, cactus etc...)
The common themes within all these products are:
- light, in as much as not only the lights, but almost all our products can be made in a luminous version
- versatility of site, because they can be used “in” or “outdoors”
- colour, which is always like a shot of fresh air
- multipurpose, as is, for example, “il cubo”; being not only a light source but also a stool, an occasional surface or a planter.
The suggestion of simple and basic essential forms is the choice of Ing.Giuseppe Colonna Romano, the founder of the company, and is subscribed to by the other designers who have been in at the conception of some of the items and is also dictated in part by the technical restrictions of the specific manufacturing
process used.
Light is in any case the main player, the knowing alchemist of atmosphere, making our objects important not only through their form, but also thanks to their visual impact.If, at the beginning, our thoughts were toward open spaces and the closed ones of dwellings, the continuing realisation that the products were scene-stealing in themselves has pushed production toward ever largerdimensions for public and private events, public places and where many people mingle.
Thus was Globo, 200cm, diameter born and Giò and the X-POTs.
